The Seventh Member State: Algeria, France, and the European Community

In her recently published book, The Seventh Member State: Algeria, France, and the European Community, Megan Brown tells the surprising story of how Algeria joined and then left the postwar European Economic Community and what its past inclusion means for extracontinental membership in today’s European Union. She joined us on Monday, July 25, via Zoom to discuss the book with Prof. Dr. Kiran Klaus Patel, Chair of European history at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, and Peo Hansen, Professor of Political Science at REMESO, Linköping University, Sweden. The discussion was chaired by Daniela Caruso, Jean Monnet Chair and Professor of Law at Boston University.
